The 127th Annual Pigtown Gala was in full swing, and as usual Belinda Martin was in rare form.
The musical chairs competition had just been completed, and the action was moving to the pig racing competition when Belinda’s voice came over the loudspeaker.
“We need some cake!”
The crowd roared in agreement.
“There will be a cake eating competition at 5:30 in the town square, come one, come all!”
At 5:30 sharp the throngs were lined up in the town square, ready to witness the cake eating competition.
Horace McNasterville finished his entire cake in 3.92 seconds.
“We’ve got him!” Shouted Belinda, as the crowd closed in on Horace. Horace looked up in dismay.
“Tell us where you came from.” Ordered Belinda.
Horace knew the game was up. He phoned his spaceship, and told them to commence the attack immediately.
Horace had eaten a rock.

To be fair cakes and rocks do look scarily alike when you haven’t lived on Earth for too long.
It’s true.
Good one! 🙂
Thanks!
When they land, throw cake at them and maybe it’ll have the reverse effect of rocks.
Not a bad idea.
Cake or death?
Whatever it is, let them eat it.
Space aliens! Can’t live with ’em, can’t live without ’em!
As Kermit the Frog once said so wisely.
Horace rocks.
To be fair, his last name was McNasterville so the town folk should have known something was up. That’s almost as transparent of a name as “Goodman!”
I did note the name of McNasterville, O Baird. The most notable surname I ever taught was possibly an Eastern European one: Katsprick.
I hope it was deserved. I have a relative by marriage named Swineheart.
But, but, cake is so much tastier than rocks!
Depends on who you ask.
My opinion is the only valid one!
you think they would have attacked something more dramatic than the Pigtown Gala…
Really? I thought that’s where all of the action was.
it might be an easy conquest to get things started…
All this informative talk. I was wondering how to find out if there were aliens in my town. And now I know how. You have brought completion to my life
Laughter is contagious. Start a pandemic
You’re welcome.
You are my hero
This gives new meaning to the phrase, “let them eat rock cake!”
Doesn’t it?
