I was driving my car down a country road one day when I heard a thump. It wasn’t a very loud thump or anything, so I just kept driving. After a couple more miles I heard another thump.
“What was that?” I said aloud.
But I kept driving. Pretty soon I heard another thump.
I got out of the car and looked around, but I didn’t see anything weird so I got back in the car. Pretty soon I heard another thump. This was starting to get weird.
I got out of the car again. I looked around, but I didn’t see anything weird. Everything seemed normal. Then I went to get back inside the car and, wouldn’t you know, it wasn’t there.
Now that was really strange. I’d never heard of a car just disappearing before. I looked around for hours, but I never found it.
I had to walk home.

After the third ‘thump’ the trunk monkey got out and stole your car
Now it’s starting to make sense…
I hate it when that happens.
Yeah.
When your car dumps you over the littlest thump, you know there are problems.
Exactly.
Weird — the beginning of a fascinating mystery…
Thanks.
Was the car waiting for you when you got home?
Something was waiting for something, that’s for sure.
Are you home yet?
A question I ask myself every day.
Thump
Hold on. What was that?
At least the thump has disappeared!
That’s one thing you can say!
I know, I just did!
I hope that’s not the story you told the police to try and explain why you re wandering through a neighborhood at 3 in the morning…
It’s a free country. I’ll go where I damn well please!
I agree, you just may want a better story, or just stay silent…
Silence is golden.
👍
Sounds like there was something/ someone hidden in your wheel well…
Quite likely.
You’re pretty lucky you got out when you did or you would be in some alien zoo in another galaxy along with your car.
Yikes! That’s an excellent point.
That kind of thing will happen when you are om the same road as the tour de France
