“An Apple a day keeps the doctor away.” That’s what Margery’s mother had always said, so Margery figured it must be true.
So Margery ate an apple every single day. It didn’t do a very good job of keeping the doctor away, as Margery was a weak and sickly individual. She seemed to be seeing the doctor every other day for some ailment or another.
“I wish that this apple really could keep the doctor away,” mused Margery one day.
She got her wish. It was a poisoned apple.
Margery hasn’t been to the doctor since.

Right on… An apple a day might not keep the doctor away, but each sweet, crispy crunch could promote weight loss and support the body’s efforts to combat disease. That’s because apples are rich in fiber as well as phytonutrients and antioxidants.
I know some of those words!
If the truth be known, Margery wasn’t particularly bright and that’s all she ate, every day. An apple. Personally, I’d like an apple pie a day.
Now you’re talking.
I’m right there with you, in the line for apple pie.
Yeah doctors are no use in poison apple recovery. Only ‘love’s first kiss’ works in that scenario. Not to be confused with ‘true love’s kiss’ which is the required treatment for spindle related mishaps.
I can see why you never went to medical school. What could they possibly teach you?
Snow White but different:
Snow muddy grey?
Do you think this has something to do with Cydia pomonella which is a member of the Lepidopteran family Tortricidae? Just asking.
Personally I think it has more to do with Pete. The alcoholic, Playboy channel watching septuagenarian with whom I use to pick apples. But that’s just a guess.
I never knew we picked apples?
I was 19, and minimum wage was better than nothing.
I was about the same age when I picked apples – but I was the truck driver so had it easy!
There were four of us on the crew. when I picked apples. None of us were any good, and one of us was 76. We spent three week picking apples, but we weren’t picking fast enough. The boss brought in three Mexicans, and they picked as much in one week as we had picked three.
That’s interesting. Hadn’t the Mexicans heard of “an apple a day”.
More like several thousand apples a day.
The only way an apple a day keeps doctors away is if you throw them at the doctors as a warning.
Laugh NOW It can’t wait
That’s a solid tip.
Poisoned apple? What a letdown. I hoped she was slowly dying from all the seeds she ate.
No. The seeds made her grow.
so I’m left wondering, is the reason she hasn’t been to the doctor because she ate the poisoned apple, or because she gave it to her doctor…
Good question.
